About two hours north of Montreal in the Laurentians, Mont-Tremblant’s pedestrian village looks like a Christmas card: colourful roofs under snow, twinkling lights and a mountain full of skiers. Here’s what to expect for Christmas at Tremblant.
Tremblant had not yet published its full 2026 holiday program; details below are based on recent seasons.
Getting there
- Distance: about 130 km from downtown Montreal
- By car: roughly 1.5 to 2 hours via Highway 15 North and Route 117, depending on weather and traffic. Winter tires are mandatory in Quebec from December 1 to March 15.
- By shuttle or bus: seasonal shuttle and bus services run from Montreal and the airport. Book ahead over the holidays.
The holiday season in the village
Tremblant’s pedestrian village is decorated with lights and garlands from late November. In recent seasons, Place Saint-Bernard at the foot of the mountain has hosted daily holiday activities in the afternoon from around December 21 into early January, such as Christmas fairs, carols, craft workshops, hockey games, circus workshops, outdoor movies and a visit from Santa on Christmas Day. Kids have loved the Ice Garden, an ice maze with glowing crystals around a fire. Most village activities are free.
Skiing over Christmas
Tremblant usually opens its ski season in late November (the 2025 season opened on November 27). By the holidays, much of the mountain is typically open. The Christmas-to-New-Year’s week is the busiest of the season, so buy lift tickets online in advance for the best price.
New Year’s Eve at Tremblant
New Year’s Eve in the village has featured celebrations at the base of the mountain. A drone show lit up the sky for the countdown to 2026. Check tremblant.ca for the 2026 program.
Other winter activities
- Snowshoeing and cross-country skiing in the area, including Mont-Tremblant National Park
- Dog sledding and sleigh rides with local outfitters
- Spas: a Nordic spa is the perfect way to warm up after skiing
Where to stay
Book early. Hotels and condos in the pedestrian village fill up months in advance for Christmas and New Year’s, and prices are highest that week. Staying in the town of Mont-Tremblant or nearby Saint-Jovite is often cheaper.
Tips
- Go midweek before December 20 for quieter slopes and lower prices.
- Check road conditions on Québec 511 before driving in a storm.
- Combine with Montreal: spend a few days in the city first. See our 3-day Montreal Christmas itinerary and things to do.
