Sledding & Snow Tubing in and Around Montreal

When the snow comes, Montreal’s parks fill with sleds, toboggans and crazy carpets. Here’s where to go sledding and snow tubing in and around Montreal this winter.

Sledding depends on snow. Most hills open once there’s enough natural snow, usually from mid- to late December. Check the City of Montréal’s sledding conditions before you go.

    In Montreal

    Mount Royal Park

The classic. Near Beaver Lake, you’ll find open sledding lanes where you can bring your own sled, plus a snow tubing slope with tubes provided (paid). Warm up in the Beaver Lake Pavilion, and admire the dome of Saint Joseph’s Oratory at sunset. Take bus 11 from Mont-Royal metro. Beaver Lake

    Parc Jean-Drapeau

Sled down the natural slope of Espace 67 to music, with a spectacular view of downtown across the river. Bring your own sled or rent on site. Metro: Jean-Drapeau.

    Neighbourhood hills

    • Parc Ignace-Bourget (Southwest), 5952 Avenue de Montmagny, with great views of downtown
    • Parc Jarry (Villeray)
    • Parc du Pélican (Rosemont) and Parc Francesca-Cabrini (Mercier–Hochelaga-Maisonneuve) for steeper slopes
    • Parc Angrignon and Parc Frédéric-Back
    • Nature parks like Bois-de-Liesse in the West Island

    Near Montreal

    • Laval Nature Centre: sledding and tubing a short drive north of the island.
    • Glissades des Pays-d’en-Haut (Piedmont, Laurentians): a large tubing park about an hour from Montreal, lit up after dark.
    • Super Glissades de Saint-Jean-de-Matha (Lanaudière): one of Quebec’s biggest tubing parks, about 90 minutes from the city.
    • Mont Avila (Laurentians): tubing slopes at a ski hill just over an hour away.

    Safety tips

    • Kids should wear a helmet, ideally a ski helmet.
    • Sled feet-first, and only on open slopes away from trees, roads and parking lots.
    • Move out of the way quickly at the bottom of the hill.
